Think2Speak to support LGBTQ+ Older People with Community Lincs

Social enterprise Think2Speak has announced it is to work with Community Lincs in a new partnership that aims to support older LGBTQ+ people living in East Lindsey and beyond.

Think2Speak will be working with the Talk, Eat and Drink (TED) East Lindsey delivery partners to support them to provide more inclusive services for older LGBTQ+ people. An essential outcome of this work is that there is a lasting legacy for individuals and organisations in terms of enhancing and improving the inclusivity of services.

Lizzie Jordan, CEO of Think2Speak, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with TED. Their recognition of the under-representation of LGBTQ+ people accessing their programmes, and their willingness to change that and embed learning within their supporting providers is refreshing! There is a lot of work to be done and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Think2Speak will be managing resources across the East Lindsey district to help better support older people in more remote areas who wouldn’t usually have easy access to services or support. The social enterprise will also be helping to identify ways of connecting LGBTQ+ older people who may be considered lonely or socially isolated.

Lizzie continued: “It’s incredibly important to help connect older people who might be struggling with loneliness. East Lindsey is a rural district where a lot of the LGBTQ+ community are spread out. We’ll be developing new marketing materials and digital platforms to help bring those people together. We can’t wait to get started!”

The Think2Speak team will also be delivering workshops for partners and stakeholders who will play a key role in promoting the project.

Amy Thomas, Head of Communities at Community Lincs and TED Programme Manager, said: “TED Ageing Better in East Lindsey is excited to be able to work with Think2Speak in order to ensure that all TED service delivery teams and volunteers feel confident creating environments that are inclusive and welcoming and that are reaching LGBTQ+ individuals aged over 50 years across East Lindsey.”
