This week is Dying Matters Week and one of the ‘difficult’ subjects that Think2Speak counsellors, trainers and the team as a whole have to talk about with the young people and their families who access our services is helping them come to terms with a loved one coming to the end of their lives or passing away suddenly.

Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, Councillor Angela Lawrence, said: “These awards have been devised to find a way to honour the outstanding members of our district’s communities. Councillors have shaped and created this awards ceremony to give recognition to the numerous people who give up much of their free time to make West Lindsey a better place. They are the lifeblood of our communities.” The District Champion of the Year Award was presented to Lizzie Jordan, Think2Speak’s CEO and Founder.

Presenting the award, Coun David Cotton said: “For more than ten years Lizzie has gone into schools and shared her story of living with HIV with children and young people to educate them about healthy relationships and keeping themselves well and safe.’

Think2Speak has been nominated for the Community Organisation Award at The National Diversity Awards 2018.  The prestigious black tie event recognises nominees in their respective fields of diversity including age, disability, gender, race, faith, religion and sexual orientation.

This National Conversation Week, I shall certainly be trying to find joy in striking up a conversation, at work and leisure. Why not join me and find time to say “Hello, How are you?” to someone you would not normally think you would want to talk to. View every conversation that you have as a golden opportunity to share and to learn. After all, you never know where such a conversation might lead you in the future!

We are delighted that Lizzie's work has been recognised through her nomination and shortlisted place on the Northern Power Women Awards 'Person with Purpose' category. The winner will be announced at a black tie event in Manchester on 6th March.

Lizzie Jordan, Think2Speak Co-Founder, was delighted to be Terrence Higgins Trust's invited speaker at their Annual Parliamentary Reception in the House of Lords for World AIDS Day 2016. Sharing her personal story of being a HIV+ advocate and the work that Think2Speak does with young people, she was able to address Lords, politicians, the media and industry seniors and stress the need for PSHE and SRE for all young people.

Lincoln based social enterprise, Think2Speak hosted their inaugural conference Thurs 13th Oct in partnership with Bishop Grosseteste University, Streets Chartered Accountants and Wilkin Chapman LLP. Schools, colleges, univererties, charities, support organisations, councils and professionals came together to discuss the impact of investing in emotional wellbeing of young people.
